I want to create imagery in moments that feel like you. With the utmost intention in everything I do, this experience should feel like yours.

Pour a glass of wine and stay a while, won't you?

i'm KÉra

Your engagement session is the perfect time for the two of you to take a much needed break from the wedding planning, and enjoy being together doing something you love to do for fun. Your engagement session should feel like a date night, wrapped up in smiles, laughter, and maybe we few beers. Below are a few of my sure fire ways to ensure you feel confident so that you have the most fun at your engagement session!

Wardrobe: bring a variety!

Your wardrobe and clothing should reflect you and you should be comfortable and confident in what you are wearing; this can make the photo that much better! If you’re uncomfortable in your clothing, it’ll be the only thing you focus on instead of your babe! Even though I am a sucker for flowy dresses and button up shirts (I love how these contrast in the outdoors), I highly recommend bringing one or two outfit changes – keep some casual and keep some dressy. The different outfits will bring variety to your images, allowing you to use them in many ways.

Consider professional hair and makeup.

I know for me, whenever I have fresh hair and a nice lip color I feel like I can take on the world! There’s something magical about knowing you look good and having it transpire into how you feel. Tip: Hair and makeup artists typically do a consultative trial session after you book with them. Haven’t done yours yet? Consider scheduling it on the same day of your engagement session. This will give you the opportunity to see how the makeup photographs before your big day and as a bonus, ensure you’re looking bomb for your session.

Choose / agree with locations that you connect with.

As part of my process, I like to send out a questionnaire to my couples to understand what they love to do for fun, including what their ideal date night is! This allows me to curate a session for my couples that connects deeply with who they are, creating a seamless and very natural environment. Love to eat popcorn and listen to old records? Cool! Let’s schedule an in home engagement session that allows you to grub while listening to Chris Stapleton while cuddled on the couch.

When in doubt, dance it out!

Movement is so important and can help get all those jittery nerves out! Dancing, jumping, or kissing are all ways you can feel more connected to your partner and unlock your true playfulness. These photos are usually my favorite since they are always authentic and unique. No two people kiss or dance the same and I love photographing these intimate, playful moments!

Bring your fur baby!

Let me just start off by saying I LOVE YOUR DOG AND WE HAVEN’T EVEN MET YET! Pups are always a great addition to a photo session as they add in that element of playfulness and family. In my experience, bringing the pups can decrease stress and make it an even more fun experience for you. Tip: bring someone along who can watch your fur baby while we shoot intimate shots of just the two of you. This will ensure you are always present in these shots instead of worrying about sweet Milo who is tied to the tree or park bench. Bonus, they will have a friend who feeds them treats!
