Downtown St. Pete Engagement Session with Ashley & Tommy

Our wedding journey together usually begins when you reach out to me either by email or by phone. From here, I really take the time to get to know exactly what it is you are looking for and how I can help. The day Ashley reached out to me, it was a tad different. You see, she heard about me through her friend Matt that she works with. I recently shot Michelle and Matt’s wedding earlier this year and Ashley couldn’t stop raving about how awesome the photos turned out (you can see the photos here). I know, total humble brag. But it totally made me blush! I couldn’t wait to hop on a call with her to really set in stone a recommendation for her.

The second we got on the phone, I knew we were a match. One of the most important elements to any wedding vendor relationship is the connection! I would argue, even more so with your wedding photographer since they are with you the whole day 😉 Anywho, I fell in love with her personality and couldn’t wait to begin planning our engagement session! Knowing Ashley and Tommy were more laid back people, we planned to do a more low-key engagement session incorporating nature in a pretty big way. Thankfully for us, its spring in Downtown St. Pete and I scoped out all of the blooms just for them! We toured around North Straub Park, the Vinoy, and ended up in one of my very favorite secret spots full of bougainvilleas!

5 Pro Techniques for Amazing Beach Wedding Photography

Hoorah! It’s summer! And what that means for us photographers is that most of our destination weddings will take us to our beautiful (and award winning!) beaches.

The beach is a great place to say I do; and with amazing beach venues in the area such as the Don Cesar and The Postcard Inn, it makes it a great escape for your guests as well.  After all, it’s like a mini-vacay!

However, pulling off  flawless beach wedding photography can be a challenge, but with the right photographer, they can make even the most terrifying storms or harsh light look stunning.

Amanda & Shawn Featured on Marry Me Tampa Bay!

I am ECSTATIC that Amanda and Shawn’s big day is getting all of the love from Marry Me Tampa Bay. These two seriously stole my heart! I first met Amanda in downtown St. Pete at the local Kahwa. Sipping our coffee (her a latte), I knew we hit it off and we were at the start of incredible journey together. If there were ever a couple to treat me and the other vendors like family, it was them. And that meant so much!

Here is what Amanda had to say:

“Kera was a dream to work with! I still had one photographer to meet with after I had met Kera, but in my head I was already set on working with her, based on personality alone. Kera has a great eye and she made me feel very comfortable in front of the camera while constantly ensuring me that I looked beautiful. I love our gallery, she was able to capture so many wonderful moments.”

Check out all of my favorite moments and details below!

A Sweet and Spanish Inspired South Florida Museum Wedding

When I first met Jamie and Sean, I knew I was in for an amazing journey with them. The two of them, smiling from ear-to-ear, were so excited to tell me how they first met and how they couldn’t wait to get married. Jamie and Sean met at the Tampa Bay Rays where Jamie still works. Their love for baseball, and their shared mutual friends, is what got these two together. I so enjoyed their Spanish inspired wedding at the South Florida Museum! The details, the people, and the atmosphere is definitely one for the books.

Multicultural Grand Plaza Beach Wedding {Mia & Vuong}

Mia and Vuong met at a Vietnamese new year party where Vuong’s brother introduced him to her. They only enjoyed one drink together and didn’t see each other again until months later. There was definitely something that intrigued them to see each other again, and I saw it the day of their wedding. These two, full of laughter and Mia sweet as pie! These two live full-time in Chicago but after visiting the beaches of St. Petersburg, they knew the Grand Plaza would be the perfect place for them to get married. Their family flew in from all over the world; and their event did not disappoint those long-road travelers! Mia, her family and friends did everything by hand. If only I had an ounce of her crafting skills! Absolutely adored this couple and their day!

Mia says the most important elements on her wedding were, “Happy moments of us, the warm atmosphere of our families, and the serenity of our wedding view.”

2015 Weddings & Portraits in Review

I started off the year in motion, and by that I mean – running towards an ever-growing goal that this year seemed almost impossible to meet. Dreams, however, never stop growing. So I adapted, and I started to become a faster and much stronger runner 😉

There’s something refreshing about the new year. I want to ponder everything I did in the year that passed (happy moments, successes, pains, tears, joys and failures) as though something profound should come from all of those things. What did it all mean? Does everything really happen for reason?

Classic Chicago Wedding at Cheney Mansion

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing an adorable bride and groom in Chicago. Both music lovers; they first met when Megan decided she wanted to learn the guitar. She didn’t know that her life would change from that day on.

Megan & Jeremy are the cutest, and I probably can’t say that enough. The warmed my heart when they brought their puppy Oliver over to meet me on Skype. It was love at first woof! We all instantly connected and I knew that that I would have blast photographing their love on their special day – not to mention, they got married in amazing Chicago Church and celebrated in a vintage mansion in Oak Park!

I loved everything about this day, whether it was the classic lavenders and greens, the beautiful vintage atmosphere, or the way her mom treated me just like family. Everything about this day was amazing – just see for yourself 🙂
