Imagine a dreamy oasis where creative souls gather to unwind, connect, and find inspiration. It sounds lovely right? You can imagine how thrilled I was when Lindsy from Read Event House hired me as their Sommelier consultant for the Rest & Reset Retreat. Lindsy and Radhika of Radian Photography organized this event, which took place at The Radical Hotel, a warm and inviting boutique hotel. The idea of the retreat was to provide a space for creative entrepreneurs to shed the pressures of performance and simply be themselves. In doing so, they could foster genuine connections with like-minded creatives who understand the journey of entrepreneurship.
As the wine consultant, I curated the perfect wine pairings to complement the culinary delights served in order to elevate the overall experience for all attendees. The wines chosen enhanced the sensory journey of each guest, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the retreat’s atmosphere of rejuvenation and creativity. Dinner took place at The Bull and Begga, which provided an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. As guests settled in around the table, they enjoyed a fixed menu of a house charcuterie spread, creamy soups, refreshing salads, buttery entrees, and decadent desserts.
To kick off the evening, I chose a sparkling wine. This effervescent delight cleansed the palate and set the tone for the evening of indulgence and celebration. I selected a sparkling rosé that screamed celebration. The bubbly paired effortlessly with the charcuterie spread of cheese, meats, and pickles.
I chose a crisp and refreshing white wine as the perfect accompaniment for the next course of soup and salad. The acidity and freshness of the white wine paired well with the cheese, fresh salads, and buttery entree dishes, as it cut through some of the richness of the meal with every refreshing sip.
The last wine chosen for the night was a bordeaux to complement the steak option of the main dinner course. This red wine was perfect as it remained light enough that it could go with the other cheeses and dinner options of the night. The wine was served family style, which allowed for ample variety and enjoyment all evening long. Of course, no dinner would be complete without dessert. This dinner ended with a light sorbet and chocolate mousse.
Each guest left with their bellies and their hearts full. It was truly enjoyable to watch these amazing creators come together and enjoy rest while they shared ideas, dreams, and meaningful conversations over a meal and a glass of wine. It was a relaxing evening that I am sure will be remembered by all in attendance.
