There is something truly special about a surprise proposal. They are filled with anticipation and quiet nervous energy, leading to the split second where everything changes. I absolutely love capturing these moments because they are filled with raw emotion and joy that can’t be recreated. Patrick’s surprise proposal at Southall Farm & Inn in Franklin, Tennessee was incredibly sweet and intentional.

Patrick reached out for help planning a proposal to Katherine. After talking through different ideas, he decided to pop the question at the hilltop at Southall Farm & Inn, overlooking the vast landscape. Even though it was a chilly day, the sun was shining brightly, casting the most beautiful light.

Surprise Proposal at Southall Farm & Inn

As Patrick and Katherine made their way toward the edge of the treehouse area, I stayed tucked away nearby, camera ready. You could feel the anticipation building. Then, just as Patrick dropped to one knee, I stepped out to capture the moment. The completely surprised Katherine was able to get out a “Yes!” as she smiled through happy tears.

After the excitement, the newly engaged couple shared a quiet embrace, soaking in the moment. Those first few moments after a proposal are always some of my favorites. It’s a moment of equal parts disbelief, joy, and deep love.

We then wandered the stunning grounds of Southall Farm & Inn to capture their engagement portraits. You could tell they truly relaxed into each other. They were all smiles as they enjoyed the scenic views and calming waterfront before ending inside the citrus greenhouse just as the sun began to set. The golden light streamed through the windows, wrapping them in the most beautiful glow. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day.

Patrick and Katherine are incredibly sweet together. Their love is quiet, steady, and deeply genuine. It was such an honor to document this milestone for them.
