Mary Kate and Jack’s classic engagement at Percy Warner Steps was effortlessly timeless. Even on a brisk, overcast fall afternoon, these two completely lit up the session. With big smiles, easy laughter, and infectious energy, they turned a gray Nashville day into something warm and joyful.
Mary Kate and Jack first connected on Hinge while both were living in Houston. What started as a simple match quickly turned into something meaningful. It wasn’t long before Jack was planning a surprise proposal. Mary Kate thought they were meeting friends for dinner who just so happened to be running late.
To kill some time and wait for their friends to arrive, Jack and Mary Kate grabbed a drink at the bar and then went for a walk in the outdoor garden. Jack led Mary Kate to a gazebo tucked inside the garden where he got down on one knee and proposed. A hidden photographer captured the proposal as it happened, followed by a few sweet portraits before they were surprised by family and friends waiting back at Jack’s parents’ home to celebrate.
For their engagement session, Mary Kate and Jack chose the Percy Warner Steps, a Nashville favorite known for its stone architecture and timeless setting. The steps were the perfect backdrop for their session. Mary Kate’s look was classic and stylish, right down to her stunning handbag, which was one of my favorite details from the session. Jack wore a navy suit that looked great next to her white long sleeved dress. The outfits paired beautifully with the natural scenery and stone textures of the steps.
What stood out most though wasn’t just how great they looked; it was how they were together. Their shared sense of humor came through in every laugh, every glance, and every candid moment, resulting in images that feel exactly how they hoped they would: natural, joyful, and warm.
Mary Kate and Jack, photographing your engagement was such a joy. Cheers to you both!
