There was so much to love about Julie and Steven’s elegant waterfront wedding at The Estate at Cherokee Dock. From the moment I arrived, the day was filled with joyful anticipation, genuine hospitality, and the kind of excitement that is simply contagious. Both families welcomed everyone with open arms, creating a warm atmosphere. It was a beautiful day from beginning to end for these two joyful souls.
Set along the shores of Old Hickory Lake and the Cumberland River, The Estate at Cherokee Dock was the perfect backdrop for their wedding day. Between the picturesque waterfront views, the historic Southern estate, and the beautifully manicured grounds, it’s easy to see why it’s one of my favorite Tennessee wedding venues. Every corner of the property offers something beautiful, making it an incredible setting for timeless wedding photography.
Julie and Steven are a modern love story having met on Bumble. They couple took their time getting to know each other before making anything official. Later, while exploring a nature preserve in Julie’s home state of New Jersey, Steven asked her to marry him.
Watching them together on their wedding day, it was obvious they had found their perfect match. Before the wedding, I asked each of them what they loved most about the other.
Julie described Steven’s “tender heart, patience, and goofy side.”
Steven answered: “Everything. She has the biggest heart in the world.”
Their answers say it all. These two are truly some of the most kind-hearted people I’ve met.
After getting ready, Julie and Steven shared a first look on the front porch of the estate. The joy bubbling over between them was priceless. You could immediately feel the excitement of finally seeing one another, and it set the tone for the rest of the day. We then explored Cherokee Dock’s breathtaking 15-acre property for portraits. One of my favorite locations was along the waterfront, where the peaceful lake created the perfect backdrop.
Their wedding party looked incredible. The groom and groomsmen wore light tan suits, while the bridesmaids each wore different dress styles and varying shades within the same soft color palette. The mix felt effortless, chic, and beautifully cohesive, complementing both the natural surroundings and the coastal-inspired wedding design.
Julie and Steven exchanged vows on the lakeside lawn with Old Hickory Lake stretching out behind them. Earlier in the day, the forecast had us watching the skies closely, but just before the ceremony began, weather parted and gave way to sunny skies. It was perfect timing.
Their New England coastal-inspired wedding palette featured soft blues, fresh greens, classic white roses, and lush blue hydrangeas. The floral-lined aisle led guests’ eyes toward the altar, where Julie and Steven said “I do” surrounded by their favorite people.
The celebration continued inside The Estate at Cherokee Dock’s luxurious event space One of my favorite features of the venue is the retractable glass doors, which flood the room with natural light while allowing guests to enjoy uninterrupted views of the lake throughout the evening. The blue and white floral design carried seamlessly into the reception, with lush hydrangeas, white roses, fresh greenery, and glowing candlelight creating an elevated, romantic atmosphere.
The newlyweds and their loved ones kept the energy high all night long as they danced and celebrated. The night ended with sparkler send off before driving away together as Mr. and Mrs.
Julie and Steven, your wedding day was a dream. It brought me so much joy to see you two together. Congratulations and I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!
